Love and Second Chances

PERSONAL PERKS

I have witnessed couples who had beat the odds of being together and making it through the ups and downs of life . Likewise,  I have  ‘sadly’ witnessed marriages that were broken because of  wrong choices. In the process, I have rejoiced and grieved with these people as they allow  me to take a hitch of their marriage, both in their best times and also during their hard times.

On the other hand, my work as a coordinator for weddings and other events gives me the same ticket to life learning.   I was able to see  different struggles, challenges and victories that  my client/s go through.  Every couple/individual had opened my eyes into the different facets of  love and Life.  Every ‘I dos’ makes me wonder how amazing our God is – in bringing two strangers together.

As a I mentioned earlier, in my line of work – I am blessed to witness how wonderful love is.  The experience in planning and coordinating the wedding of Robin and Vanessa allowed me to appreciate the real meaning of  ‘Second Chances’...

What’s their story?

When Robin became a Christian he realized that it is the right time to marry Vanessa.  For nine years of being together Robin and Vanessa had a daughter named ‘Faith’. In effect of their decision, Faith – their daughter was the happiest person when she learned that her mom and dad are getting married. As they carry on the next chapter of their life , Robin and Vanessa was just bearing on the  full trust in God – that He is in control.

Last March 30, 2013 at T-HOUSE, Tagaytay City – God gave Robin and Vanessa a second chance in love.  Their wedding was a reminder that our God is the God of restoration. The ceremony was very intimate; attended by people who are very close to the couple.  It was only in this wedding, that the ‘pronouncement of marriage’ became real to me. Pastor Nixon Ng finally announced ” I now present you Mr. and Mrs. Robin Sandi”!.  Then I whispered happily to my staff , “Finally they are married…”

At the reception, Robin teasingly called Vanessa — “Mrs”.  For awhile – I saw the bride blushed…   ‘At that time, I just know that Mrs. Vanessa Sandi was enjoying her new status in life . Likewise, God gave Robin a ‘new life’ in Jesus and finally had given him the chance to make things right in love with Vanessa and Faith. Love truly conquers all…

Memories Carved in their hearts

Ayaka Yamauchi Debut

Ayaka Yamauchi grew up in Japan, obviously she rarely speak English.  Despite the language barrier, you will feel the warmth of her soul through her kind gestures and smile. Her parents decided to celebrate her debut in the Philippines , to get her  acquainted with our culture and her Filipino roots.  As a result,  the whole event planning  became an interesting ‘adventure’ for her.

I communicated with her and her parents through email. They arrived Manila a week before the event , I was excited that finally I would be able to put a face on the name.

When we went shopping  for her gown and accessories – I enjoyed observing her stints in trying out some of the ‘pinoy’ stuffs .  Mostly are items or things that she  only heard from her mom or have seen in the internet.  For the most part, her debut celebration became a whole week of fun with her Filipino relatives.

The journey with Ayaka and her family was not just putting a face on a name  but it was a process of building  friendship with a client . The name Ayaka is a Japanese feminine name; according to wikipedia  – Ayaka can be written using different kanji characters and can mean: colorful, flower, design, scent.  True enough, when I met her, she embodies a beautiful inner and outer ornament.  A fine young girl with such a humble heart, always trusting and always thoughtful of others including the  suppliers for her big day.

On the night of March 21, 2013, the young lady celebrated her 18th birthday in Plaza Ibarra.  Our reliable suppliers truly made her night a memorable one.  Hats off to these people:
